TAN SRI DATO’ HASHIM MEON, retired as Secretary-General Ministry of Defence, Malaysia in September 2003 after serving more than 33 years in the Malaysian Public Service since early 1970.  He served in several capacities in Malaysia and overseas during his long illustrious career that also earned him national award by the King of Malaysia conferring the title Tan Sri (2002) and prior to that by the Sultan of Selangor conferring the title Dato’ (1996).  Tan Sri Hashim earned his honours degree in Arts from the University of Malaya (1970), and later read for his Masters in Public Administration at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA (1981).  He also attended post-graduate diploma courses in Public Administreation at the University of Malaya (1973), Computer Management Studies at the University of London, United Kingdom (1975) and Islamic Studies at the National University Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) (1985).

Tan Sri Hashim spent more than 10 years of his career in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) including managing the largest computer installation in the public sector then as Director of Computer Centre in the Prime Minister’s Office (1985-1990).  Prior to that he was Head of National Computer Training Institute for three years as well as Director of Computer Division, MAMPU, Prime Minister’s Department, an agency responsible for public sector computerisation programme in the Malaysian Government.

In view of his training and vast experience in ICT, Tan Sri Hashim was involved in major landmarks of ICT development including creation of MIMOS (Malaysia Institute of Microelectronics System), an R & D agency for ICT in Malaysia (1985) and was also founder member of MDEC (Multitimedia Development Corporation) (1996-1999), a government agency created for the implementation of multimedia supercorridor project (MSC) initiated by the Malaysian Government in1995.  In the organisations that he headed, Tan Sri Hashim was responsible and personally supervised the implementation of ICT initiatives such as introduction of video-conferencing facilities and extensive usage of e-mail communication among members of the organization. 

As State Secretary of Selangor State (1995-1999) (State Secretary is the most senior public service appointment as well as head of public service in the state government), he introduced the usage of video-conferencing facility involving the 9 districts in the state for regular meetings and briefings including the weekly post-exco (state cabinet) briefings on decisions made by the exco weekly meeting.  He also encouraged extensive use of ICT within the state government administration including the creation of state government interactive website to enable the government agencies to interact with the public, other government agencies and also the business community which in essentially were the core ingredients of an e-government.  At the Ministry of Defence where he served for 4 ½ years he was also instrumental in the extensive usage of ICT facilities including the introduction of video conferencing for regular usage even by the Minister of Defence himself for his weekly meetings after the Cabinet Meeting every Wednesday

MOHAMAD AZAMI TIMIN is a Mathematical Science graduate majoring Accounting and Computer Science from University of Adelaide, Australia in 1990. He pursued his MBA from National Graduate School of Management (NGSM), Australia National University in 1997. Begin his career as an auditor with Mercantile Insurance Sdn. Bhd. (MISB) and later moved to Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) as SAP Consultant specializing in various financial modules and Project Manger

Eager to widen his experience and knowledge, he decided to join Securities Commission (SC). Among his responsibilities was to acquire best available technology in developing and re-engineering the organization operation. Later he was appointed as IT Audit Specialist ensuring high level of IT services control and security.

Being the ED and CTD of MRSB his responsibilities include maintaining the highest standards of performance, corporate integrity and staff dedication within the company to pursue and constantly achieve its objectives and goals, managing client expectations and issues, project planning, requirement study and the overall success of deliverables of the projects. He is also responsible in ensuring the strategic planning and accurate implementation of plans to ascertain that the company moves in the direction of its mission and vision
